Honey, Pear, & Vanilla Bean Crostini

Ingredients:

  • 1 mini baguette, sliced 1/4” thick
  • 
4 ounces Brie, sliced thin

  • 1/2 jar of Made by Mavis Honey Pear Vanilla Bean Jam
  • 1⁄2 cup whole pecans (about 15 pecans)

  • 5 chives, cut into 1⁄2” long pieces

Preheat oven to 400 ̊F. Line up baguette slices on a baking sheet. Bake for 5 minutes, flip each crostini, and bake for an additional 2-5 minutes or until the toasts are light golden brown. Remove from oven.

Top each toast with a slice of brie. You can either put the crostini back in the oven for a minute to melt, or use a torch to melt each piece of brie. Top each toast with a 1⁄2 teaspoon of jam. Garnish each with a pecan and chives, if desired.  YIELD: 15 crostini.

Mini Ricotta & Jam Filo Cups

Ingredients:

  • 24 mini filo Cups
  • ½ cup Made By Mavis Jam
  • ½ cup Ricotta Cheese
  • Salt & pepper or sugar, if desired
  • Fresh herbs for garnish, if desired

Remove filo cups from shells and bake on a sheet pan according to package directions. Let cool.

Meanwhile, Put the ricotta in a bowl and stir well to loosen its consistency. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper or sugar, if desired. Scoop the ricotta into a plastic Ziploc bag that will hold it with a little room (quart or gallon bag) and push the ricotta to one corner as if it was a piping bag. Remove all the air from the bag as you twist the top together. Cut off the corner of the bag so you can easily pipe into the ricotta cups. Pipe the ricotta into each cup. Top each cup with a small spoonful of Made by Mavis Jam. We recommend: Cherry Bomb Jam, Cranberry-Pear Chutney, Peach Bellini Jam. or Cardamom Plum Jam. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired such as mint. YIELD: 24 mini cups

Apple-Jalapeno Christmas Tree Cheese Ball

Ingredients:

  • 1 block cream cheese
  • ½ cup Made By Mavis Apple Jalapeno Jelly
  • 1 pretzel rod
  • ¼ red bell pepper
  • 1 cherry tomato
  • Crackers, for serving

Cut cream cheese diagonal, place together to form triangle in a shallow bowl or plate. Take the Apple-Jalapeno Jelly and smother the cream cheese with it. Top with diced pepper. Add a cherry tomato to the top of the tree. Add one pretzel stick as the trunk of the tree. Garnish with two rosemary springs. Serve with crackers! Variation: Make a dreidel with the cream cheese and top with Blueberry-Lime Jelly!  YIELD: 1 cheese ball. Serves 8-10.

Apple Butter Tea

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Made by Mavis Spiced Apple Butter
  • 12 cups water
  • 2-3 Tea Bags

Follow instructions on tea bags and while tea is hot, add apple butter. This smells and tastes so delicious - it is like a warm mulled cider. Serve over ice or enjoy warm!

If it isn’t sweet enough add more apple butter. YIELD: twelve (12) 1-cup servings

Winter Berry Sparkler

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon Made By Mavis Winter Berry Jam

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

5 ounces sparkling water or Prosecco (we’ve used Mixed Berry Sparkling Water)

lemon wedge for garnish, if desired

Stir together jam and lemon juice. Slowly add the sparkling water. Stir gently to combine. Pour into a glass and garnish with a lemon wedge or lemon peel, if desired. YIELD: 1 glass.
