September Markets with Made by Mavis September 05 2017, 0 Comments

We absolutely love working the local markets and other public events around Cincinnati. It gives us a chance to get out and meet the people that make this town so amazing, and really capture the pulse and energy of this city. Most months, Made by Mavis normally participates in two or three markets, but this upcoming September we have a particularly busy calendar. From the beginning of the month until the end, we will have our team scattered around the city with jars of delicious jams and tasting spoons for everybody we meet! Since there are several events that we will be participating in this September, we decided to compile them all into one blog so that you are certain to run into us when you’re out and about this month.

Wine/Jam Tasting at DEP's Fine Wine & Spirits July 06 2017, 0 Comments

We at Made by Mavis recognize when other businesses are successful, and it makes us happy. Everybody loves a success story, and by comparing one business to another, we are able to learn and improve operations. Often times we partner up with other companies in order to combine resources and grow together. That is exactly what we’ve done recently with DEP’s Fine Wine and Spirits in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.

DEP’s is more than just your average liquor store. They take the business of alcohol sales to a whole new level by offering interactive member programs, as well as painting classes, special events, and weekly tastings, just to name a few things. They offer many more options on wine and bourbon than other liquor stores, and they have a constantly changing growler station with various local beers.

We have recently been added to the Kentucky Proud section of their store, and as a treat to the Club DEP’s members, we will be sampling a few of our jams at DEP’s Ft. Thomas location this Friday from 4-8 pm. Our team member Suzanna will be handing out samples to go along with their Friday night wine tasting, so if you are a member, come on out and say hello! If you aren’t a member, it is not too late to join. Besides exclusive tasting parties and discounts, Club DEP’s members are entered into drawings and raffles, and have opportunities to purchase rare or limited items before they are available the general public.

After their staff invited some of the Made by Mavis team to a wine class a few weeks ago, our eyes were opened to the complex world of wine that the DEP’s team knows quite well. We learned that they take their jobs as seriously as we do ours, and that there are proper tasting techniques and vocabulary when it comes to wine. They told us about the complex history of wine, and educated us on certain wine pairings.

When we were finished, we couldn’t help but compare their dedication to the art, craft, and enjoyment of wine to our dedication to jams at Made by Mavis. Our teams both seemed to enjoy the experience, and we have since formed a partnership with them. DEP’s now carries three Made by Mavis jams (Cherry Bomb, Peach Bellini, and Pomegranate Pinot Noir), as well as our Bourbon Barrel Stout Syrup, which will all be available for sampling this Friday night. Although our relationship is in it’s early stage, we hope to grow alongside this local business for years to come. Come out this Friday to help both companies grow and celebrate wine, jam, and friends!
