About Made by Mavis

It was love at first canning pot for me—once I started, I just couldn't stop! I am a mad scientist of jams, jellies, chutneys, and sauces, and anything you can … can—I do.

I was raised with my triplet brother and sisters in Ryland, Ky., on good old- fashioned southern cooking and trips to the area’s best restaurants. I worked in bakeries, candy stores and coffee shops, all the while improving my baking skills at home with chocolate mousses and layer cakes.

I studied magazine journalism, women’s studies and film at Syracuse University. After graduating from college, I fell in love with cooking and began dreaming up new concoctions. When I wasn’t cooking, I traveled as much as she could, visiting five continents and even taking cooking classes in Umbria, Italy.

I moved to Chicago in 2008 for a change of scene, and in 2010, I enrolled in culinary school at Kendall College, which was ranked as the #1 program for culinary arts in Chicago by the Chicago Michelin Guide Restaurants. At Kendall, I was classically trained in the culinary arts and had the opportunity to take a Mexican Master Class with renowned Mexican chefs. In 2011, I graduated with a certificate in Catering and Personal Chef from Kendall College.

Not long after, I moved back home to Northern Kentucky, married the man of my dreams, and established The Delish Dish and Made By Mavis to bring my favorite gourmet flavors to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

While I spend a lot of my time as the executive chef and owner of The Delish Dish, a boutique catering company in Covington, Ky., I felt the need to share my love for jams and jellies with not just my family, but the world. What can I say? I LOVE JAM!! 

And so, the Made By Mavis artisan product line was born to transport my favorite gourmet flavors to your home. My artisan products are lovingly made the old-fashioned way in a French copper jam pot from the finest ingredients and organic spices. Our unique flavor combinations will have you saying, “That’s MY jam!”
